Going Out: Final race of the 2xu Triathlon promises a fight to the finish

  • Youth encouragement: The race has two categories for youngsters, Junior Super Sprint (12 years and below) and Super Sprint (13 years and above).

    Held on Friday, March 18 at Mamzar Beach in Dubai, the conclusion of the event will see the overall series winners, as per the final series rankings, awarded trophies and prizes.

    Whether you’re a first-time triathlete or have been conquering the discipline for years, the race, organised by Super Sports Dubai, has various distances to cater to all skill levels and experience.

    Ages 12 and under can take part in the Junior Super Sprint, which will consist of a 200 metre swim, an 8 kilometre cycle and 2.5km run. The regular Super Sprint, for ages 13 and above, is slightly extended to a 375m swim, 8km cycle and 2.5km run.

    If you have what it takes to step up to the longer distances, you’ll be dealing with a 750m swim, 24km cycle and 5km run in the Sprint, or the grueling 1.5m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run in the Olympic category.

    Casual participants can choose to spread the load by forming a relay team of two or three people, with each athlete doing one or two parts of the course.

    Those who have accumulated the most points per category will be named overall winners for the series, but first, second and thirdplace finishers of the final race will also receive medals.

    To qualify for the final prizes, athletes must have competed in two of three races in the season.

    Sign up through www.supersportsdubai.com or www.premieronline.com before the deadline of midnight on Monday, March 14. Spaces are limited and there’s a chance the race could be sold out, so make sure to register as soon as possible.

    The entry fee is Dh175 per person for a relay team, Dh250 for juniors aged 18 and under and Dh300 for adults.

    As well as entry into the race, the fee includes timing, a certificate, a medal, refreshments, a goody bag and a 20 per cent discount voucher on 2XU products at GO Sport.
