A new fitness studio has just opened its doors in The Marina, Dubai and is running some events throughout the summer. The first takes place on Saturday at Lululemon in Marina Mall where you can participate in a Body class with Stefani Bertoncini.
The importance of a balanced fitness regimen which incorporates all the components of fitness may not be obvious until injuries start to creep in. Unless you have a personal trainer or access to multiple gyms/fitness studios, it’s almost impossible to know what you should be doing and where to go to get it.
DEFINE Dubai might just be the answer. DEFINE believes that strength + length = balance and their classes are designed around this premise. DEFINE Dubai offers three classes only, but this is all you need to keep body, mind and soul in perfect health.
The studio, based in Silverene Tower, near Pier 7, Dubai Marina has just opened and is offering the free Define Body class, a perfectly balanced 60 minute session of strength and flexibility exercises to sculpt and condition the entire body, to give you a taste of what they do. It is a combination of Pilates, yoga, barre and core strength, using props such as balls, weights, resistance bands and straps to vary the workouts and increase intensity. These classes are fun and fast paced which ensures that the heart rate remains elevated throughout to help boost metabolism.
If you can’t make this weekend, don’t worry because you can keep an eye on their Facebook page as other events are planned. They are also offering a free introductory class at the studio, so you can visit their website to view the schedule and book. The other two classes which complement Body are Revolution and Mind: Rev is an indoor cycling class which will improve your cardiovascular fitness, but the use of drills and weights makes it a full body workout on the bike.
Mind is a restorative combination of yoga stretching, ball rolling to release soft tissue tension, inversions in the hammock to decompress the spine and relaxation to relieve stress. The combination of all three classes has an extremely powerful effect on wellbeing.

Euro 2016 has provided plenty of drama and what better place to watch the action unfold for the remaining games than at The Tavern.
Situated at the Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel and Resort by the Corniche, the venue has become a firm favourite for sports fans in the capital. That isn’t a surprise considering there are fantastic promotions on offer as well as daily raffle prizes to be won.
Since the opening day of the tournament, there has been a fantastic turn-out and with the final group games and knock-out stages still to come, the atmosphere will only get more vibrant.
“Residents in Abu Dhabi have been visiting the Tavern for generations,” said Judith Duffy, director of marketing. “The pub has many devoted patrons who have been regular guests for the past 15 to 20 years.
“Since it is a traditional pub, we have many regular Irish and British customers and fans of every nation are welcome to visit.
“Right from the first game, there has been a great number of people visiting the venue and that isn’t no surprise as there are great promotions and deals.”
The venue is fitted with one 100inch television screen and five 42inch screens, meaning you will not miss that important goal or incident. As well as watching all the games, fans can choose from a wide range of dishes with its special themed menu with delicious individual snacks and sharing platters on offer.
There are also fantastic beverage deals (served after Iftar during Ramadan), while daily raffle prizes are up for grabs if you correctly predict the winning team.
With all to play for in France including Germany’s clash with Northern Ireland, Wednesday’s tasty Belgium and Sweden encounter as well as Portugal’s crucial tie with Hungary, Duffy insists fans will not be disappointed at The Tavern.
“It’s going to be a lively atmosphere with a fun environment. If you are looking for an authentic pub experience in Abu Dhabi then look no further. There is great food, promotions and it’s in a convenient location in Abu Dhabi.”
Since the opening day of the tournament, the venue has attracted hundreds of spectators from all different nations and with all still to play for in the group stages as well as the knockout rounds, the numbers will surely increase.
All matches will be beamed live at the Club House and with 16 high-definition screens, including 11 in the Ramadan tent, wherever you sit or stand, you won’t miss that last-minute goal or controversial incident.
“We’ve had a huge number of people come to Abu Dhabi City Golf Club since Euro 2016 began,” said Steve Johns, head PGA golf professional at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club.
“The best thing about Abu Dhabi and the UAE is that it’s very multicultural with people of different nationalities. The tournament has been extended to 24 teams and that is great news because it means more people can cheer on their team in a major football tournament.”
Besides watching the matches, there are excellent beverage promotions on offer as well as a wide variety of international dishes.
“It’s not just about football for us. We have international menus serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for the family. We have some fantastic deals on beverages and we like to think of ourselves as your home away from home,” said Johns.
The venue will certainly be busy for encounters as England take on Slovakia, while Wales meet Russia with qualification still up for grabs. With thrilling affairs in Toulouse and Saint-Etienne predicted as well as Portugal’s crucial encounter against Hungary, Johns insists the club is the place to be in the capital.
“It really will be an electrifying atmosphere,” he said. “During the England v Wales game, it was vibrant and with everything still to play for, there are sure to be some thrilling games. With fantastic service, food, beverages and plenty of televisions, there’s no better place than Abu Dhabi City Golf Club.
“We open our arms to all nationalities to cheer on their team and there’s no entry fee to watch the games.”
