  • With the extensive opening hours, the sporting event of your choice should always be on.

Bull & Roo added Brunswick to its stable earlier this year, a sporting ‘hang out’ that saw the company notch its first fully licensed bar to the hugely successful Tom & Serg, The Sum of Us and Common Grounds offerings across Dubai.

Full-name Brunswick Sports Club, the bar is geared up to resemble a Melbourne sports bar of the same ilk co-founder Tom Arnel frequented back home.

It’s the perfect place for sports lovers across the UAE. Head in now and watch the PGA Championship reach a cruscendo, while Test cricket series and football friendlies will light up the summer.

And the venue has an ease to it that reflects the laid-back nature Arnel and cohort Sergio Lopez speak of when describing the Melbourne suburbia they draw inspiration from.

“Tom and I always aim to create venues that we ourselves want to hang out in, and Brunswick Sports Club is no exception,” said Lopez ahead of the launch in February.

“Think distinct and industrial fit-out that draws inspiration from a Brooklyn style gym with a spacious courtyard full of lush greenery – an affordable place for after work or on the weekends to ‘talk turkey’ with your mates, enjoy lively entertainment or watch a game and most importantly, to unwind,” offered Arnel.

Relaxing vibe: Based on Melbourne sports bars, the venue is a calm haven.

And to be fair, it is a little indoor garden decked out with screens (don’t expect huge, more subtle) playing various sport from within the Sheraton Hotel at Mall of the Emirates. Those expecting vast expanse should look elsewhere, while anyone looking for a more cosy venue will be delighted.

The menu is an atypical dream for a ‘man’s man’, with burgers taking centre stage (the Mac Daddy is a treat).

Not only that, there is a wealth of drinks on offer and a bar-man with extensive knowledge of a variety of classical and home made drinks, which will expand your horizons.

Lovers of exclusive beverages in particular will delight at the widerange of offerings and are well advised to take up one of the chilled lockers on offer and fill it up with crafts from around the world.

Where the place really stands out is in its staff who are given free rein to twist your arm with recommendations and are always on hand to help you make your mind up.

It all creates an immensely welcoming atmosphere that is sure to keep you coming back for more and should make it a prime destination for the summer and beyond.
