  • Take part: UPS football league.

With the off-season now over, it’s the start of the new sporting campaign and if you’re a footballer or cricketer, you don’t want to miss United Pro Sports’ (UPS) new leagues.

The indoor venue is renowned as one of the top multi-sport facilities in Dubai which is no surprise considering a large number of people take to the pitches every week.

And not for the first time, UPS are giving you a chance to reign supreme in their cricket tournament and football league.

Their one-day cricket competition returns for another edition on September 16 with teams battling for glory in the eight-over matches. Each side must have 10 players and is guaranteed four matches with the top sides advancing to the Cup while the rest will contest the Plate trophy.

    What, where and when...

    • What: Football and Cricket tournaments
    • Where: United Pro Sports, Dubai
    • When: September 16 (cricket) and from September 22 (football)
    • Contact: For more information or to sign up visit, www.unitedprosports.ae or phone 04 3401122

“The cricket one-day tournament is held three times a year since United Pro Sports opened its doors in 2013,” said Austin Varghese, operations manager at UPS.

“The tournament has grown immensely from a mere eight teams to 32. In recent times, it has become one of the most anticipated tournaments for us due to its one-day play and convenience for teams who cannot commit to multiple dates.”

For footballers, their quest gets under way from September 22. Running over three weeks (Sep 22, 29 and October 6), teams are guaranteed four matches in the five-a-side format with squads no more than 10.

Besides the winning trophy, there is plenty to play for with prizes for fair play and best-dressed up for grabs.

“The United Pro Sports football league on the other hand is now in its second season,” said Varghese. “Our opening season proved to be very exciting which saw the league won by virtually the last kick following a tight battle at the top where two teams were tied on points.”

With registration for the cricket tournament closing on September 13, and football on September 15, Varghese insists there’s plenty of reasons to sign up.

“United Pro Sports is one of the best indoor arenas to play sports, is very spacious and easily accessible from Sheikh Zayed Road. It’s a great chance to come test your skills with some of the best indoor teams in Dubai.”
