  • Dawn in the desert: Events starts early, at 6:30.

As the weather cools down, the season for outdoor events in the UAE draws closer and the Dubai Desert Road Run is the perfect opportunity to get active again.

The first of five races kicks off on Saturday, September 24 as the popular series returns to offer eager runners the chance to put their trainers back on and hit the road.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a social runner or someone who takes it very seriously with year-round training. The event, which was first held in February 2012, is perfect for all members of the running community to participate in.

Two distances are on offer: the 3km and 10km. The various age groups available to enter for the 3km are 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-20 and adults. The older crowd can take part in the 10km, which is open to ages 14-20, 21-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60 and above.

The top three finishers in each age category will receive trophies at the awarding ceremony, while all finishers will be given medals upon completion of the race. There will even be a prize raffle in which participants can win spot prizes from Jabra, the product sponsor for the 2016/17 season.
