  • Extreme test: The range of obstacles will push your limits and test your skills.

    Those who are brave enough to tackle homegrown event, which was established in the UAE in 2014, can sign up for one of the four courses available on Friday, October 21 at Dubai’s Al Rawia Training Field.

    Fun, but demanding obstacles, combined with a social and team-working environment, make Desert Warrior Challenge a great to supplement your fitness regime and build camaraderie at the same time.

    Participants can range from young children to fit athletes looking for their next challenge.

    Kids aged six to 15 can take on the 1km-2km Junior Warriors, while anyone aged over 16 can choose between the 5km Fearless Warrior, 10km Ultimate Warrior and the new 20km Extreme Warrior.

    The latter is being introduced as the first 20km obstacle race to be run in the Middle East and will feature 30 hardcore obstacles in total.

    Whatever course you choose, however, you’ll encounter obstacles such as the 1/4 Pipe, the Cargo Net, Boot Camp circuit and Monkey Business rings and bars to name a few.

    There will also be team-focused obstacles, including Stacks On, Twin Peaks, Bell Climb and Brain Freeze.

    Managing director for Desert Warrior Challenge, Troy Gillham, said: “This year we have decided to take the challenge to a whole new level by introducing the Extreme Warrior, the region’s first 20km GMC Desert Warrior Challenge obstacle course.

    “The whole idea behind DWC is to not only provide a platform for the community to enjoy an engaging and fun form of exercise, but to also challenge them to be the better version of themselves.

    “We want our Warriors to band together and motivate each other to get fitter, live healthier and be part of what we like to call #thewarriormovement.”

    All four course will be timed, but Extreme Warrior is the only competitive event as first, second and third-place finishers for male, female and team competitors will be awarded trophies and prizes.

    The fastest male and female Emirati finisher will also receive a trophy and prize. If you can’t make it for next month’s event, the Desert Warrior Challenge is also planning to expand regionally to Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in late 2016 and early 2017.
