  • Push your physical and mental strength to the limits in an exciting obstacle race like no other in the Sandstorm Marmoum.

Held under his patronage, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince of Dubai has already confirmed his participation at Al Qudra Lakes and you can join him on February 10 with registration still open.

Whether you’re an avid sportsperson or exercise occasionally, there are two distances to choose from with, 5 and 10km on offer.

Pitting your agility, speed and stamina, you will tackle more than 30 obstacles through rock, sand, water and mud terrains as you make your way to the finish line.

This year marks the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Dubai Holding Corporate Wellness Programme and their chairman Cedric Betis insists the inaugural edition will be a massive success.

“Sandstorm is one of the many initiatives that Dubai Holding Corporate Wellness Programme takes pride in organising,” he said.

“We wanted to create a challenging, yet fun event, which was appropriate for all fitness levels and involves all members of the family.

“We are thrilled to announce that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan has confirmed his participation. He is known for his fearless spirit and love for sports and adventure and we look forward to seeing him on the racecourse.

“Our racecourse was developed by an award-winning team of international designers offering an immersive and engaging experience for the participants across the full track.”

After completing the course, the fun doesn’t stop there as spectators and participants can soak up the atmosphere.

Sandstorm will also include a dedicated Race Village facility, which will offer a range of entertainment and leisure activities for race participants and younger members of their families.

Entry costs Dh350 for the 5k and Dh450 for the 10k, while there is a Dh100 discount per person for corporates who register 30 people or more.

With prizes available for the top-three finishers, Betis believes it’s an event not to be missed.

“The Sandstorm is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to compete alongside His Highness Sheikh Hamdan in such a unique setting of four terrains with more than 40 obstacles, four terrains, two distance and one mission – conquer the Sandstorm,” he said.

“Sandstorm welcomes contenders from all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels to experience a one-of-its-kind racecourse as a fun, challenging and unconventional activity that will push participants to their maximum limit.”
