Tee-m time: The Els Club is a fantastic venue to take your team members to.

The next time your company has a board meeting or a team-building exercise, consider the sporting outdoors rather than the congested four walls of your office, or a hotel.

Dubai Sports City is now offering individual, team and corporate packages across a variety of their world-class facilities.

These packages are available across a wide range of facilities including the award-winning Els Club, ICC Academy, Football Academy and the Dubai Sports City Sports Village.

These can be tailored to suit an array of organisations wishing to benefit from its facilities — from the smallest of businesses, right up to global multinational companies.

One person who knows all about being a part of a successful team is former Real Madrid player and Director of DSC’s Spanish Soccer School, Michel Salgado.

Speaking about the importance of team building through sport, Salgado said: “Sport, physical and mental well-being plays a vital role in building a team.

It’s not only what you do on the field or in the office that’s important, but it’s all about what you do to prepare your team-members outside of that.

“To lead a successful team, it’s all about building bonds, trusting your fellow colleagues and creating an environment that everyone is comfortable in. Sporting values can certainly be transferred to the corporate world.”

An overall experience can be had through the five-hour long Sports Village Day package, which, apart from food & beverages, includes a variety of activities such as cricket at the ICC Academy, golf at The Els Club or the athletics track, basketball courts or tennis courts, all supported by DSC’s team of experts.

These experiences can also be had at one particular venue, be it cricket at the ICC Academy, golf at the Els Club and Butch Harmon School of Golf, of football at the Football Academy and pitches.

Experience a race against the sunrise in the adventurous and challenging Urban-Ultra Wadi Racer.

Taking place at the picturesque Wadi Showka on Saturday, May 6, the trail run begins in complete darkness and ends with participants crossing the finish line as the sun comes up in what is expected to be a breathtaking setting.

The event is perfect for outdoor lovers and hiking enthusiasts, but it’s also a great opportunity for anyone wanting to get a taste of the UAE’s stunning nature.

Three distances are on offer with a 30-kilometre, 20km and 10km run, for everyone aged 16 and older. From start to finish, the course is on a gravel track and rocky wadi bed with short sharp climbs and undulations mixed in.

Reflective material has been placed all along the course to help runners navigate it in the darkness. To do this, however, runners must have a head torch, which is mandatory and required to start the race. They will not be supplied, so make sure to bring your own.

Along with a head torch, other mandatory gear needed for the event include a 1.5 litre hydration pack or bottle, a cell phone, a collapsible cup, a whistle, an empty ziplock bag (to keep the environment clean), a printout of the course map and, of course, a first-aid kit.
