  • Various city-based academies are part of Dubai Sports World.

It’s that time of the year again when the temperatures soar and athletes head indoors to the oasis of Dubai Sports World, where the action never stops.

This year will mark the seventh edition of the region’s largest indoor summer sports arena, in association with Dubai Sports Council, which opens on Thursday, June 1 and runs until September 2 at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Whatever your preferred sport or activity, Dubai Sports World features an all-encompassing, air-conditioned space that hosts multiple pitches and courts across 25,000 square metres.

Badminton lovers are in luck this summer as there are now 12 badminton courts on offer by Shuttle Time Dubai, up 50 per cent from last year, while once again there are four pitches for 5-a-side football, four pitches for 7-a-side football and rugby, six basketball courts, three tennis courts, a mini-cricket pitch, a regulation-sized volleyball court, a state-of-the-art gym, a fitness studio, a cycling studio, a running track and a free Table Tennis Zone.

There’s also a skate park for extreme sports enthusiasts, a ninja warrior course, a trampoline park, padel with the Zayed Abbas Tennis Academy and a ‘Just Play’ sports camp for children. That’s in addition to Dubai Sports World partners such as IFA Football Academy, Tennis360, , KAFO Academy, Rage and more.

Saeed Mohamed Hareb, general secretary of Dubai Sports Council, said: “Each year, we are delighted with the exponential growth and success of Dubai Sports World at DWTC, as it attracts more visitors, who are encouraged to follow a healthy, fit and happy lifestyle.

There are 12 badminton courts at DSW this year, up from eight last year.

“Furthermore, DSW has emerged as a unique platform to nurture young talent and spring-board professional sporting careers to a national, regional and international level.”

While there is no entrance fee to access the venue, visitors must register onsite and book to use a court or pitch, which can be done online through www.dubaisportsworld.ae.

With Ramadan currently going on, Dubai Sports World’s timings will be from 08:00 to 01:00 daily during the Holy Month.
