  • Teamwork makes the dream work: Tough Mudder is both a collective and individual effort.

The du Tough Mudder returns this December and while it may seem a long way off, you can begin your preparations for the world-renowned obstacle course challenge with registration still open.

Taking place on December 8 and 9 at Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, those who sign up early can look forward to an adrenaline pumping challenge and experience a life-changing adventure.

Since launching in 2010, it has gone from strength to strength with more than 130 editions held worldwide and one that has already seen more than 2.5 million people participate.

Described as ‘probably the toughest event on the planet’, it is an untimed and team-orientated activity with larger than life mud-drenched obstacles designed around the values of courage, personal accomplishment, teamwork and fun.

New for the second Dubai edition is the Reach Around obstacle. Much like the name implies, this obstacle will challenge Mudders to reach up and grab hold of something they cannot see.

After scaling the face of this structure, at a backwards 45 degree angle, you will then be forced to reach up and around the overhang and pull yourself up and over the top.

Tough Mudder is the latest obstacle course craze to take the UAE by storm.

Other signature obstacles that Mudders will face include Arctic Enema 2.0 (a head-first plunge into ice cold water),  Electroshock Therapy (the infamous final obstacle on the du Tough Mudder course which requires a muddy sprint through dangling electric wires charged with over 10,000 volts of electricity) and The Block Ness Monster. This is where Mudders will have to work together to push, pull and roll their way through 60 feet of slick, rotating barriers in a waist-deep water pit, putting the team to the ultimate test.

More obstacles are set to be announced and while full and half distances are available to choose from, with entry ranging from Dh295 to Dh490, kids can also compete in the du Mini Mudder for Dh50. The 1.5km obstacle course is open for children aged between seven-13.

And even if you’re not competing, you can still show support to your friends and family by buying a spectator ticket for Dh40.
