With the half-term holidays soon approaching, there’s no reason for budding footballers not to be active with IJF Academy and FC Football Center’s Football Camp.
Taking place at Just Play HQ, Al Quoz, Dubai from February 11 to 15, kids aged between 3 and 16 can develop their skills and knowledge under their qualified coaching staff.
IJF and FC Football Center are no strangers to hosting camps with their previous editions proving to be a huge success and next week’s is set to be no different.
“During our winter camps in December and January we had over 70 children attending per day and we are delighted that it was a huge success,” said Lee Mannion, head coach at IJF Academy. “The kids had an amazing time, learning new skills and techniques and we are confident the Football Camp will be another big success.
“That’s because besides learning new skills and techniques, there will also be fun games which will be based on some of the skills of their favourite players today.”
Running from 09:00 to 16:00, parents can choose from three options: half a day (09:00 to 12:00 or 13:00 to 16:00) costs Dh150, while it’s Dh400 for three days or Dh650 for five days. For those who want to attend the full day, then it’s Dh250 daily, Dh650 for three days or Dh1,000 for five days.
And with a few days to go until the camp begins, Mannion believes there’s plenty of reasons as to why parents should enroll their children.
“What makes our camp stand out from the others is that ours is one of the only camps that focuses specifically on football in Dubai,” he said. “As we are having a team of high qualified coaches in the Dubai, the camp is run indoors in a fully air conditioned facility so kids will not have to worry about the heat. There is also a safe seating area for the children to sit and have a snack during the breaks.”
He added: “Overall, the children will have fun, meet new friends and learn about the game as well. On top of this the children will have the chance to win prizes each day.”

Witness some of the best show jumpers and enjoy a wide variety of fun activities for free as the annual Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy (FBMA) International Show Jumping Cup returns next month at Al Forsan International Sports Resort.
Running from March 1 to 3, this year will be the fifth edition and is expected to see an increased interest from international equestrian communities and higher participation numbers than previous years.
More than 120 participants are expected to flock to the Abu Dhabi venues and compete in various categories (CSIL2*, CSIYH1* incl. 8YO, CSICH-a and CSJI-A) in their bid of winning some fantastic prizes.
On top of seeing the action, organisers FBMA, are bringing back the very popular Equestrian Village, a fun family zone that consists of equestrian themed games for kids, pony rides, a market and a variety of food and beverage options.
Since launching in 2013, the FBMA International Show Jumping Cup has gone from strength to strength, enjoying significant regional and international recognition.
Beginning as a ladies-only event, the competition expanded in 2016 to include categories for men and children. With the tournament growing rapidly, the fourth edition of the Cup attracted 117 riders from 25 nations as well as becoming an established family event to attend.
And this year is set to be no different. Highlighting Abu Dhabi’s international contribution and commitment to sporting events in the UAE, it enhances the overall vision of FMBA to encourage Emirati women to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
Aiming to instill the values of sport in the local community, the event hosts a large number of local talent and aspires to increase Emirati women’s participation in sporting events.
The three-day free to attend event is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the UAE General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and directives from H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and president of the Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain ladies clubs.

If you’re an adrenaline junkie and thrill seeker, do not miss out on riding the world’s longest zipline – Jebel Jais Flight at Ras Al Khaimah.
The UAE’s newest attraction, which sees people travel at speeds of up to 150kph at a height of 1,680 metres above sea level on top of Jebel Jais mountain, just opened on February 1, but it’s expected to be a big hit for those interested in extreme adventure activities.
To mark the occasion of the launch, the Jebel Jais Flight – The World’s Longest Zipline’ – also won a Guinness World Record. The official certification was handed to HH Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, by Hoda Khachab, the official adjudicator from Guinness World Records.
Those who take the ride can look forward to a thrilling experience. There are no age restrictions on ‘pilots’ but must weigh a maximum of 150kg, and minimum of 45kg for ‘fliers’ who must be at least 120 cm tall. The price is Dh650.
Thrill-seekers will be suspended above the mountain as they prepare to take the flight headfirst in a ‘superman’ style position. The flight will take no more than three minutes. And once completed, you will finish the bucket list flight on a suspended landing platform transferring to a second line, measuring at 1km, to complete your journey back to the ground.
“It actually comprises two main zipline cables, allowing friends and family members to experience and race together, adding to the fun and competitiveness of the facility,” said Jorge Jorge, CEO of Toro Verde RAK.
“Zipline pilots will experience a flight like never before while being secure and safe. While the time and speed they complete the flight in is dependent on weight and weather conditions, the whole experience is expected to last around two to three minutes, with top speeds reaching between 120 and 150km per hour. We anticipate the attraction accommodating a rider every five minutes on the two zip lines, equating to approximately 200 people per day, and around 100,000 per year.”
He added: “We also believe given its location in Jebel Jais, which is traditionally 10 degrees cooler than average UAE temperatures, we can operate during the summer months.”
Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, is convinced the zipline will be a massive success in the Emirate.
“This is a great achievement for Ras Al Khaimah’s international tourism ambitions,” he said.
“We are now receiving our largest-ever number of visitor arrivals and are confident that Jebel Jais Flight: the world’s longest zipline, will earn the UAE’s emirate of Ras Al Khaimah considerable recognition on the local, regional and global stage and propel the destination into the major leagues of global adventure tourism. The Jebel Jais Flight will become Ras Al Khaimah’s flagship tourism product and will cement Jebel Jais as the adventure tourism hub of the Middle East. We are expecting to see an increasing number of adventure tourists coming from across the globe to try this bucket list experience.”
