  • Runners can lace up their trainers and hit the road for the fourth race of the 16km Super Sports Run Series later this month in Dubai with registration still open.

Taking place on Friday, February 23, at The Track Golf Club at Meydan, entry numbers have already been impressive and with registration closing next Tuesday there’s still time to join.

The community orientated event, sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council and organised by Super Sports Events, is open to adults and juniors of all ages and abilities with distances varying from three, five, 10 and 16km.

There’s even more reason to enter considering all athletes finishing the race will have a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Thanyapura in Phuket, Thailand – Asia’s top sport’s training and leisure resort.

Previous races from the series this season have proved to be a massive success and Warren van der Merwe, race director of Super Sports Events, is confident their next one will be no different.

“It will be a cool and fresh start for race four which is the penultimate race in the series,” he said. “We have had great feedback and response from all runners especially that they only have to do one loop in the three, five and 10k routes and 1.5 loops in the 16k.”

“With the closed off roads it makes for a safe, fun and exciting morning of running. The Track have also been amazing in opening their doors for all runners on race days and makes for the perfect host venue with all amenities and facilities on hand.”

Ages for the 16km and 10km will include male and female categories for under 30 years, 30 to 39 years, 40 to 49 years and 50 years and over.

The 5km run is for under-19 years, 19 to 29 years, 30 to 39 years, 40 to 49 years and 50 years and over.

On top of that, the 3km caters for all novice and junior runners with categories starting from under-9 years, 9 to 12 years, 13 to 18 years and adults 19 years and over.

Entry fee for adults is Dh175 and Dh125 for juniors. As part of Super Sports Events’ aim in making it more a family friendly event, they are offering a discount to families of three or more.

Included in the fee is an electronic chip timer, custom made finisher’s medal, t-shirt, downloadable race certificates, photographs of them finishing the race as well as fruit, muffins and other refreshments.
