  • Abu Dhabi Cricket has partnered with Gary Kirsten Cricket to deliver a Spring training camp like no other in the region.

Although it started on Sunday, there’s still places for budding cricketers to enhance their skills and knowledge this week.

Running until April 5, the camp will offer an unparalleled cricketing experience for the UAE’s stars of tomorrow, combining the skills of World Cup-winning coach Kirsten and his highly-qualified staff as well as Abu Dhabi Cricket’s team.

It will be overseen by Oscar Nauhaus, who will join Abu Dhabi Cricket’s coaches including Sri Lankan international players Chamani Seneviratne and Melani Abeysinghe.

Whether your child plays the game regularly or wants to take their first steps of learning the sport, the camp is open to all abilities. Kids will be split into different groups according to their ability – beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Nauhas brings plenty of experience having coached for 12 years in various academies across the world from South Africa to India, Sri Lanka and England and now the UAE. He joined the established Gary Kirsten Academy in 2016 to focus on high performance coaching and will implement the GKC coaching techniques in Abu Dhabi. He will not only focus on the youth programmes but also player development at the senior level.

The camp, which runs from 09:00 to 16:00, will consist of coaching in the mornings before kids can test their skills in the afternoon with matches and fun games.

Full day from 09:00 to 16:00 costs Dh750 for the week, while half-days – 09:00 to 12:00 costs Dh550 for the five days. A single day costs Dh170.

Zayed Cricket Academy are no strangers to hosting top coaching programmes and are now one of the best institutions in the UAE.

Teaching girls from 4 to 18, they have enjoyed significant local and international success, most recently in the Under-19 UAE National Academies League for the second year running. Academy players have also won scholarships to prestigious schools abroad and been selected to represent the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the UAE Inter-Emirate tournament as well as the Under-16 and U-19 UAE national team.
