  • There might still be a few weeks until the schools break up for the summer but budding footballers can still remain active with IFA Sport’s Ramadan Football Camp.

Running from May 20 to June 14 at Dubai Sports World (Dubai World Trade Centre), the camp is open for 4-to-14 year-olds, who will develop and learn new skills under the academy’s qualified coaching staff.

IFA Sport are no strangers to organising summer camps with their previous editions proving hugely popular and this year’s will be no different.

“The Ramadan camps are a great way to keep the kids busy in the quieter months. As we run at indoor venues the heat is also no problem,” said Jess Prelle, marketing manager at IFA Sport.

“We get around 80 kids per day at our camps which are split into age groups and each have a dedicated and highly qualified coach.”

She added: “We run a football curriculum which means that no day is the same and the kids don’t get bored.

“Each day focuses on a different aspect of football with themes such as ‘Stay On The Ball’, ‘Control Possession’, ‘Take Your Chance’ and ‘Win The Ball’. Players then have the chance to test their skills in structured mini-tournaments.  Players also undertake a series of Skills Challenges, receiving comprehensive performance reviews at the end of the week. In addition to all the drills, there’s always plenty of match time too.”

Sessions are held from 14:00 to 16:00 between Sundays to Thursdays, costing Dh50 per day.

Although there’s a few weeks to go until it begins, Prelle has urged parents to enroll their children now for what will be a fun-filled camp.

“With over a decade of experience in the region, IFA Sport is the largest grass roots independent sports academy in the UAE with a brand vision to help more kids get more out of sport,” she said.

“IFA Football Camps are designed to give players the opportunity to progressively develop their football skills in a fun and positive environment.  During the five-day camps, players will learn about all areas of the game under the tutelage of the vastly experienced UEFA qualified coaching team.

“In Ramadan our hours are 2-4pm which is a great option for the kids to join straight after school whilst parents might still be busy.”
