Real Pilates is offering its unique space and amazing facilities to keep you fit during Ramadan.
Providing various health benefits to residents of Dubai for years, the famous studio knows the best way to embrace the holy month with the right type of energy boosting exercises and techniques.
Reza Alavi, Founder and Managing Director of Real Pilates said: “The month of Ramadan is a peaceful season for all, where time spent with family and evaluating oneself is encouraged. In line with self evaluation, an acute consciousness of ones wellbeing, both physical and mental should be maintained.”
Real Pilates is located in ONE JLT, Al Sarayat Street and in Palm Strip Mall, Jumeirah. Classes start from Dh85 and packages are available.
For Ramadan, Dubai will see the onset of a more peaceful month, whereby those fasting as well as those that aren’t, embrace the spirit of the season. Families will come together more often, sharing meals after Iftar and celebrating a sense of togetherness that the rest of the year may lack.
However this time does also see health levels fluctuating from the yearly norm, due to the change in diet pattern. It is important for those observing the fast to bear in mind their health, and the ways in which to best conserve this during the sacred month.
In line with promoting health levels during this time, low intensity yet wholesome exercise options can be undertaken. A great example of this would be Pilates mat classes, which look into developing core strength and stability. These make use of a series of simple yet precise movements that facilitate toning of muscles, development of flexibility and improve posture.
Yoga is yet another such exercise that does not always necessitate high levels of energy, but through movement that is timed along to the inflow and outflow of air into the body, helps center the mind and body.
However, attempts to maintain ones physical well-being are rendered futile if this is not supported by the nutrients received by the body. Foods with relatively higher water contents which are easily digestible are ideal; as the body can break these down faster to release the energy it has not received throughout the day.
Raw fruits and vegetables would be the prime example of this as they do not overburden the digestive system but are packed with vital substances. Freshly squeezed juices are also highly beneficial as they are packed with quick acting sugars to boost glucose levels in the body.
These when incorporated into the delectable Iftar spread, ensure that individuals receive all the essential nutrients they require.

The temperature might be getting hot but golfers can still get into the swing of things at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club with their ‘Summer in the City’ promotions.
Running from May 15 to September 15, ADCGC have announced a series of special coaching deals that are available for everyone whatever your experience.
A three-hour lesson costs Dh999, which includes membership to the academy for one month and one green fee, while a five-hour class costs Dh1,599 (two month membership and two green fees). There is also a 10-hour class available costing Dh2,999, which includes three months academy membership and five green fees.
You can also play 18 holes of golf from Dh150 and nine holes from Dh99.
Even if you’re not a golfer, you can take advantage of their Summer Academy membership for Dh999. This includes unlimited use of their driving range, access to their tennis courts and swimming pool plus member discounts.
Previous years of the summer promotions have been a big success and Dave Taylor, head PGA professional at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club is confident this year will be no different.
“We hope to offer everyone a place to escape the heat, enjoy an active past time and an activity that doesn’t involve going to the mall. There is no better time to take advantage of our shaded driving range, air conditioned swing room and discount prices,” he said.
“Every year, this has been a very popular promotion for us with lots of golfers taking advantage of the offers at the academy, on the golf course and membership benefits.”
He added: “For the first time our promotion this year includes unlimited use of the driving range and includes green fees to allow golfers to play the course. This means all golfers, whether experienced or first time golfers, can learn, improve and play their best golf ever through the summer months all ready for the perfect Abu Dhabi golf season that starts at the end of September. As the only fully covered driving range in Abu Dhabi, there is no better place to practice in the shade, or in our air conditioned swing room.
And Taylor insists there’s plenty of reasons on why people should sign up.
“It can be hard to get out and enjoy sports during the hot summer months, but here at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club we have a fantastic area for you to play, learn and stay cool,” he said. “With fantastic discounts and lots of additional benefits there is no better time to start golf or improve your golf. Our expert team of welcoming and supportive PGA teaching professionals will help you with all your needs and show you why we are Abu Dhabi’s favourite golf academy.”
