Triathletes of all ages and experience can join MyTriClub.

MyTriClub, as part of My Sports Academy, is offering people young and old in the UAE a chance to achieve their full potential as a triathlete.

Self-proclaimed as the first triathlon club in Dubai to adopt a long-term development model that allows triathletes to get the most out of their abilities, MyTriClub provides a safe point of entry into the sport of triathlon regardless of experience level.

The club operates under My Sports Academy, which is a sports coaching provider in the UAE. Since being established in 2011, MSA has highly-qualified, educated and certified coaches who work with children and adults on long-term athletic development in a positive and fun environment.

MyTriClub is broken into five different training groups, each with a set criteria so athletes can train at a level appropriate to their abilities and experience.

In Try Tri Beginner, athletes will get a grasp of the fundamentals needed for the three disciplines of triathlon, including swimming stroke, cycling and running technique, while focusing on aquathlon.

In MyTri Development, athletes will improve their speed and endurance in swimming and running, as well as bike handling and an understanding of gears and cadence, with transitioning on and off the bike introduced.

In Junior Performance, athletes, who are already adequate at swimming and running, will learn to cycle using shoes and cleats.

In MTC Performance, the focus is on competition, with athletes competing at a Sprint Distance of 750 metres swim, 20 kilometres bike ride and 5km run.

The final level, MTC Elite, is for athletes who want to compete at a national level and beyond.

Training sessions are delivered by experienced coaches, including three international athletes. Equipment and facilities are also top-notch, especially with Technogym having donated 15 Mycycling units.

Once athletes have improved their knowledge, skills and fitness levels, they can then challenge themselves to compete at a higher level as part of MyTriClub’s performance team.

Interested athletes can take part in sessions at 10 various locations throughout Dubai, including Jebel Ali School and North London Collegiate School.

Race the same track as Hamilton and Vettel.

This Eid Al Fitr, Yas Marina Circuit – the home of the famous season-ending Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix – will play host to a variety of action-packed racing-themed activities and experiences.

On Thursday, June 14 and Friday 15, drivers will be able to test their skills on the same track that Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel speed on every November, go head-to-head with friends and even try out the venue’s new North Circuit.

But, the offerings don’t end there.

On Saturday, June 16, friends, families and racing fans alike can also jump behind the wheel of any one of the experiences available and take advantage of discounted rates of up to 50 per cent.

There’s plenty of opportunities to accelerate in a Aston Martin GT4, Mercedes-AMG GT, Jaguar F-type S Coupe or Formula Yas 3000 on the famous circuit.

Or, if that doesn’t rock your boat, slide down their custom build drag strip in what promises to be a thrilling spectacle for all petrolheads.

The 800-metre Yas KartZone track will also be open daily from 20:00 until midnight, with prices starting from as little as Dh60 for kids and Dh120 for adults.

There are many, many packages on offer, including the North Circuit Premium Karting option.

This gives people the chance to try out the brand-new track layout at the venue and is inclusive of the hiring of essential racing gear such as helmets, gloves, overalls and safety covers. As part of the cost, a full safety briefing is conducted by experienced Yas Marina Circuit instructors.

And, to make things that little bit more competitive, you will be also provided with your race results at the end of every session so you can compare how you got on with everyone else! That is sure to get the juices flowing.

To take part, drivers must be aged 18 or over, however you don’t need to be an expert racer or even own a driving licence to hit the tarmac. Due to the popularity of Premium Karting, participants are encouraged to book in advance to guarantee their spot.

There’s still a few weeks to go until Gulf Star Sports’ summer camps return but now is the time to take advantage of their early bird discount before it ends on Thursday.

Running in July and August, across various locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, kids aged between 3 to 13 can look forward to a variety of activities including basketball, football, dodge ball, swimming and gymnastics.

Gulf Star Sports are no strangers to hosting camps with years being a huge success and this year’s will be no different.

“Gulf Star have been successfully running summer camps in the UAE for the past five years,” said Matthew Ralton, senior operations manager at Gulf Star Sports.

“Our summer camps bring together qualified teams of teachers, sports coaches and administrators to deliver the highest quality camps in the UAE. Children can benefit from staying active during the hot summer months whilst learning in a safe environment and developing a variety of new technical and social skills whilst having fun and making friends.”

He added: “There will be a wide range of sporting activities that kids will be doing with football, basketball, tag rugby, dodge ball, gymnastics, arts and crafts, martial arts, swimming and dancing among those on the list.

“There will also be a wide range of `feature games’ and old favorites during the holiday camp. These are based on teamwork, movement, tactics and fun, so if you hear your child say `I’m king of the ring’ or `we won capture the nest’, it’s most likely relating to the very popular activities that we incorporate into the day.”

One of the big pluses is that their camps are held in multiple destinations in Al Ain (Brighton College), Dubai (Foremarke School, Clarion School, Jebel Ali School) and Abu Dhabi (Repton School, Reach British School, New York University and American International School).

The prices costs Dh735 per week for the early bird offer, Dh2,625 for monthly (summer sizzler promotion) or Dh3,999 for the whole summer. Day rates are also available on request. Timings are from 09:00 to 14:30, with early drop-off at 08:00 and late pick-up at 16:00 also available.

Ralton insists there’s plenty of positives on why parents should enroll their children.

“Gulf star camps are available all summer at highly competitive rates, including discount for early and long-term bookings,” he said. “Staff to child ratios on Gulf Star summer camps are amongst the best in the UAE, ensuring that we provide a fun, safe and nurturing environment for your children.

“They will also gain a wealth of new knowledge, physical competencies and social skills that they will be able to carry forward into their every day lives.”
