At Emirates Golf Club, swap the luxurious greens for the indoor courts and take advantage of their latest squash membership.
Guests are welcome to sign up for an exclusive promotion at the city’s famed golf club and receive a number of exciting benefits. For Dh 6,000, the membership gives you unlimited access to two squash courts, an opportunity to join the Dubai Golf Squash League and also the chance to take part in forthcoming squash tournaments.
On top of that, members will also receive dining and spa discounts at the Club and get access to the Fit Lab gym and pool until September 30.
“We have launched the squash membership at Fit Lab, Emirates Golf Club due to demand and feedback from our guests,” said Andy Meech, Head of Sports and Leisure.
“We have had two glass backed squash courts at the Club for over 20 years and these have always proven to be extremely popular. In June, we held the prestigious PSA World Squash finals and it was fantastic to be able to welcome the world’s best squash male and female players to Dubai.
“We have had squash leagues running for five years with over 60 regular players signed up, covering all levels of experience and ability. There are many passionate squash players in Dubai and this membership provides further opportunities for these players to come together in a social and competitive environment.”
He added: “We offer lessons through the Elite Squash Academy and coach Nicky Harradine, with all abilities and standards of players welcome. Members receive discounts for all lessons completed and non-members are also welcome to take lessons with us, however the leagues are for our members only.”
With the interest of squash gradually increasing in the UAE with many players taking up the sport, Meech insists there’s plenty of reasons on why people should sign up.
“We offer one of the strongest squash membership options in Dubai run by a team with over 30 years of squash experience,” he added. “We have a great atmosphere within the Club and the membership provides a fantastic opportunity for all levels of player, male and female to enjoy their love of the game.”
“In addition to the membership we also encourage young players from the age of five years old to take up the sport with our popular Junior Clinics.”

Dubai will make endurance history this December when it hosts the world’s longest desert ultramarathon in the spectacular Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
Being held under the umbrella of Dubai Sports Council from December 11-15, the Al Marmoom Ultramarathon will be the ultimate measure of athletic endurance, testing physical strength and mental stamina as runners cross 270km of desert landscape in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
The prize value totals US $80,000 in cash, trophies and medals, making it the biggest purse in the world for an ultramarathon. All finishers will be awarded certificates and medals.
“We are happy to support this event, which is the longest desert ultramarathon in the world,” said His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, at Wednesday’s press conference. “It will test the endurance of the athletes, but what excites us even more is that this is an environment-friendly event which will showcase the fascinating beauty of Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve across five days.”

Base camp will be situated beside the lakes in Al Marmoom and will include tents, medical assistance, water and basic refreshments. The routes will include regular check points where there will be water, time keeping, medical and race crew.
International elite ultra-runners will take on the Al Marmoom Ultramarathon 270km route, which is divided into four segments: two 50kms runs, plus continuous 70km and 100km runs. The two additional ultra runs taking place at the same time will be over 100km and 50km distances.
Participants will follow specific routes and the course will be marked every 500 metres.

Get your friends and family together and see if you can strike it lucky in a game of bowling at Zayed Sports City this summer.
Their Khalifa International Bowling Centre continues to be popular all-year round and with the temperatures rising in the UAE, it’s the perfect activity to beat the heat and have plenty of fun.
Since opening in 1999, it has attracted thousands of visitors all year round and with summer upon us, you can see for yourself why it’s highly rated.
Whether you want to play in the morning or late at night, the venue is open daily from 09:00 to 01:00 with fees starting from Dh16 per game.
“The Khalifa International Bowling Centre is busy year round, with more than 350,000 games played annually, and summer is actually our busiest time of year,” said Tony Kouris, general manager at Zayed Sports City.
“We continue to welcome leagues, corporate groups, families and camps throughout the day and into the night. People are making the choice to stay active and escape the soaring temperatures outside through bowling which is great to see.”
The 40-lane centre has hosted some of the largest events in the region, as well as the World Bowling Championships in 2009, 2014 and 2015.
With automatic scoring systems and laneside restaurant service, Kouris believes people won’t go home disappointed.
“The 40 bowling lanes provide a place to stay active while also escaping the outdoor heat and humidity, but this is not the only reason to come out and play this summer,” he said.
“Bowling is an incredibly inclusive sport in many ways. We provide all of the gear to get started and there is no prerequisite level of fitness for someone to feel comfortable participating.
“Everyone can play together at Zayed Sports City too, because we have equipment to make adjustments for people with special needs, plus families of all ages play together on the same lane and it is one of the most affordable sports around. It’s important that every member of the community incorporate activity into their lifestyle, and bowling is certainly a great option offered at ZSC.”
