ADIHEX offers up cultural insight to UAE heritage

  • ADIHEX attracted 120,000 visitors last year.

    Combining the UAE’s culture and heritage, the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) hits the region on Wednesday to showcase the best the trade has to offer.

    The large-scale, annual event is back and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ruler’s representative in the Western Region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club.

    Running until Saturday, September 12, the 13th edition of ADIHEX is hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center in the nation’s capital Residents across the UAE are encouraged to visit the trade show, dedicated to weaponry, equestrian, archery, falconry, hunting tourism, sport fishing & marine sports, outdoor leisure vehicles, arts, crafts, antiques and more.

    Since the inaugural edition was held in 2003, ADIHEX has considerably grown in size and popularity and last year’s event attracted 640 companies from 48 countries and about 120,000 visitors.

    There’s plenty to take in at this year’s edition, with a wide range of Arena and Knowledge Zone Activities packed into the four days.

    Arena Activities include entertainment like riding displays, dressage and show jumping displays, breaking in an untrained horse, as well as dog and bird shows.

    Get a lesson in Middle East sport in the Knowledge Zone by attending such presentations like Two Hundred Years of Excellence, Falcon Research & Conversation, practicing with firearms at home or office, how to modify off-road vehicles, In Touch with Nature and more.

    Presentations are spreadout over the four days and last for either 30 minutes or up to an hour.

    Lessons in handling firearms will be given.

    There will also be a number of competitions to witness, including the Falcon Beauty Contest, Art & Photography Competitions, Nabati Poetry Competition and the Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest.

    Whatever your interest, there’s sure to be some exhibition, booth, presentation or activity to keep you entertained and invested.

    While online registration to attend is closed, you can still register in-person at the show for Dh10, while each of the four days of the event will take place from 11:00 to 22:00.
