Donald Trump behind plans for luxury golf course in Dubai

  • Already home to some of the world’s best golf courses, the UAE will soon be adding another to its extensive portfolio after luxury developer Damac unveiled plans for an 18-hole PGA Championship Golf Course in Dubai.

    The ambitious project, in partnership with US tycoon Donald Trump, includes a 7,205-yard, par 71 course, a 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art clubhouse and a luxurious Trump Spa and Wellness Centre, which will be managed by the Trump Organization.

    Located in Dubailand, construction is already underway on the course, to be named Trump International Golf Club, with developers confident it will be ready for tee off in 2014.

    “By collaborating with Donald Trump, we are bringing the most elite name in golf and international luxury real estate to Dubai,” said Hussein Sajwani, the chairman of Damac Properties.

    “This course will provide a unique challenge for golfers, while delivering the upmost luxury and refinement for which both Damac Properties and the Trump Organization have become renowned for.”

    The venture will be the first for the Trump Organization in the Middle East although they already hav 14 award-winning courses under its ownership and management across the world, including the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

    “Trump International Golf Club, Dubai will be built to world-class levels, exceeding all expectations – there will be nothing like it in the region and beyond.”

    Ivank Trump, the executive vice president of development and acquisitions at the Trump Organization, added: “As with all of the courses we develop and manage, Trump International Golf Club, Dubai is being built to the highest standards of excellence and will become known as one of the world’s finest courses.”

    UAE is already home to 20 world class golf courses including the Emirates Golf Course, host of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, and the Abu Dhabi National Course, host venue for the HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.

    The European Tour’s Race to Dubai finale – the DP World Tour Championship – is also held in the Emirate at the magnificent Jumeirah Golf Estates.
