  • Untouchable: Sana Tufail (c) has not lost in Sharjah since she was a 13-year-old.

Sana Tufail continued to dominate the ladies golf scene in the UAE, winning the Dufry Ladies Open Golf Championship at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club for the fourth successive year.

The 17-year-old from Yas Links was hot favourite going into the tournament, and she never really felt threatened by any of her rivals.

At the halfway stage, Sana was one-under and the ladies record of 69 gross, which she had established last year, looked in danger of being broken.

Even when her immaculate 235-yard 3-wood tee shot on the ninth disappear in the water, Sana was not to be denied as she chipped in to save par.

With strong cross winds changing course conditions over the last six holes, two uncharacteristic bogies on the 16th and 17th holes prevented Sana from repeating the record breaking feat of last year and she had to settle for one-over par 73 for a massive four-shot win over another emerging junior, Kim Chiang of Arabian Ranches.

Chaing produced one of her best performances of the season, finishing with a gross 77. It was a steady card, with only a double bogey six on the seventh hole disappointing her.

Julia Alhemoud (EGF) was third, but was disappointed not to reproduce the form displayed in the earlier part of the season. She started strongly, but after a series of bogeys around the turn, faded to finish with an eight-over 80.

In the net division, Korean Jiwon Bae of The Montgomerie finished with a net 70 to claim the Division 1 title.

Bae played the course several time prior to the event and used her knowledge extremely well.
