Hosted at the Doha Golf Club, the tournament begins Wednesday and the UAE teams are looking to make an impression after months of solid performances and a strong training schedule.

This is the 20th Edition of the Senior GCC Golf Championship. Doha Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course designed by Peter Harradine and is the home of the Qatar Masters. Tipping out at 7,374 yards, the golf course will provide a tough challenge for both divisions.

Representing the senior team will be Khalid Yousuf, Rashid Hamood, Ahmed Skaik, and Saeed Malik. After winning the 2016 UAE Presidents Cup this month, Hamood is looking to provide the team the extra boost in order to compete for a top seed.

This is the ninth edition of the youth (18 and under) GCC Golf Championship and the UAE team will comprise of Mohamed Al Hajeri, Mohmood Skaik, and Rasid Al Emadi.

A rising star of the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) and the UAE, Al Hajeri will a key player to watch out for this weekend.

National team coach, Greg Holmes, said: “We have always had very good ball strikers on the team. This year, we have worked very hard on our pre-shot routines to help alleviate any outside obstacles.

“There have been some notable individual achievements during the year and we feel that we have a great chance in Qatar. Rashid played very well in the Presidents Cup and we hope that this carries over for him at the GCC Championships.”
