The 18th edition of the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge, one of the oldest and most awarded corporate golf tournaments in the region, will begin with the first qualifying event of the new season today at the recently opened Al Zorah Golf Club in Ajman.

Andrew Horne, general manager, Xerox Emirates, said: “Turning 18 is a rite of passage the world over, and it is the same with the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge.

“With a new partner city and sponsors, we look forward to welcoming familiar and new faces to the numerous qualifying rounds that will be held across the GCC and South Africa. We look forward to a memorable inaugural qualifier at the Al Zorah Golf Club, Ajman.”

The tournament began in the UAE in 1997 as a one-off event, but has grown into a 16-leg event, with two of the qualifiers also being hosted in South Africa.

The objective of the tournament is to provide companies with a platform of mixing business with pleasure.

Over the years, the winning prizes have ranged from a place in the Kenya Open Pro-Am tournament, a place in the Dubai Desert Classic Pro-Am, a place in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship Pro-Am, and a life-time experience trip to the Open Championship 2012 at Royal Lytham and St Annes.

The 2016 Xerox Challenge is supported by Ajman Tourism as the grand final host city. Al Zorah will be the host venue for the two-day grand final later this year.

Main sponsors of the event include Devere, Acuma, Chrysler and Callaway Golf.
