Dubai Golf scoops five top awards at 59Club Awards night

    Regarded by many as the ‘Oscars’ of the golf service industry, the awards are designed to reward the top golf venues across all business elements – sales, service, operations, retail, food and beverage, and management.

    The industry benchmark of 59Club, the Gold and Silver Flags, recognise the finest membership clubs and commercial venues in the UK and Europe, including Wentworth, Celtic Manor Resort and Gleneagles among others.

    In addition to the ‘Golf Group of the Year’ title, Dubai Golf’s Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club received a Gold Flag award, as well as the award for the ‘Ultimate Members Club’, an honour given to the venue which leads the average scores of all those receiving a Gold Flag.

    Emirates Golf Club also took home an esteemed Gold Flag award while Dubai Golf’s Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Craig Haldane, was named ‘Greenkeeper of the Year’.

    Haldane said: “It is a great honor to receive the award and something that is sincerely appreciated by all my colleagues in the Maintenance Department.

    “These are the guys who work as a team and continuously put in all the effort throughout the year in order for us to achieve our goals. Credit must go to all of them.”

    In total, 18 awards were presented at a ceremony at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club, England, while 20 golf venues saw their commitment to continued quality recognised with the award of a prestigious ‘flag’.

    Collecting the awards on behalf of Dubai Golf, Barney Coleman, Emirates Golf Club’s Director of Golf, said: “It’s fantastic to have such a successful night for the second year in a row. We’re very proud, as it’s a massive team effort, across Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

    “We’ve put a lot of work in over the last couple of summers; we’ve done a lot of training on service culture, and all the colleagues have shown a lot of dedication and have embraced it.

    “Looking at these awards, it seems they’ve delivered it over the last 24 months. We are delighted.”
