The Ian Baker-Finch-designed golf course, which was opened to the public in 2004 and forms the heart of Emaar’s Arabian Ranches community, will have an almost brand-new driving range, while the popular Ranches Restaurant is also being renovated.

The key areas that have been identified for significant improvement are the golf professional teaching area, the short game practice area, main tee re-leveling and creation of target greens.

The enhancement work is being done by Proscape Golf and is expected be completed by the end of the summer months.

Speaking to Sport360, general manager Elliott Gray explained the rationale behind the changes: “The club management is enhancing many areas of the club, golf course and facilities for our membership and guests and we felt the driving range required a sufficient upgrade which will enable us to present the best surfaces and practice areas possible to cater for the needs of all levels of golfers.

“When the work is finished, we will have new short game area and target greens as well as a large astro turf area to practice from.”

Gray said there will also be routine summer maintenance on all turf areas, roughs, fairways and greens of the golf course.

On Ranches Restaurant, Gray added: “It is currently closed for a major enhancement which will see it open in Mid September. Birdies Sports Lounge is also receiving extended areas to the terrace and new furniture prior to the start of the golfing season.”

In a communication to the members and guests, the club promised to accommodate their practice, but urged them to check the website as there will be times when the whole practice facility will need to be completely closed.
