On Saturday, The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) in association with the Ajman Tourism Department hosted an Emirati Golf Day at Al Zorah Golf Club.

In effort to raise awareness and promote golf in Ajman and the Northern Emirates Al Zorah Golf Club opened their facilities to all Emiratis that wanted to participate in a fun interactive afternoon of golf.

Over 40 UAE National beginners turned up for full afternoon of golf activities that included a 6-hole mini putt course, to one-on- one training lessons with EGF and Al Zorah Professional Golf Coaches.

Rashid Al Jarwan, EGF Board Member, was in attendance and had this to say about the incentive. “This was a terrific afternoon. For us to bring together so many UAE National kids and families at the golf course is a great accomplishment by Al Zorah and the EGF.

With the assistance of the Ajman Tourism Department we are eager to see the development of golf in Ajman.

The Federation is focused on the continued growth of golf in the Emirati community and this is a true demonstration of that commitment”.

At the beginning of this month the EGF launched the National Junior Development Program (NJDP) at Al Zorah Golf Club and due to the hard work of their Pros and Administration the club has produced 5 weeks of successful lessons seeing over 50 kids with 20 kids that have registered for weekly lessons.

Martin Dewhurst, PGA Professional and leading the charge for the NJDP at Al Zorah had this to say about the newly adapted program: “Our goal is to try and attract as many Emiratis from Ajman, Sharjah and Um Al Quain as possible to experience golf at the beautiful AZGC.

“We are looking forward to starting the process of the NJDP. We look to develop the juniors making them the best players that they can be, whilst having players from our region representing the UAE internationally.”

The EGF is encouraging all UAE Nationals to get involved with this National Junior Development Program and golf.
