  • Tips on how to avoid injury this summer.

If it is difficult to play as many rounds of golf as you’d like during the summer, why not use the time to prepare for the season getting stronger and more flexible?

We asked Vincent to suggest four exercises that will surely lower our handicap and increase our driving distance during the winter.

    GLUTE BRIDGE

Lie on floor with knees bent and feet flat.

Push your hips into the air using your glutes while keeping your back straight and inline with your hips.

Avoid arching in the lower back.

Glute Bridge improves glutes and core stabilisation.

    PLANK

Bend your elbows and rest your weight onto your forearms.

Your body should form a straight line from shoulders to ankles.

    Engage core and maintain position.

This will greatly improve isometric core activation.

    SINGLE LEG DEADLIFT

Stand on one leg with other leg bent at 90.

Bring upper body and hand down to reach towards the floor.

    Return back to start position.

Single Leg Deadlift for strong glutes.

    MED BALL WOODCHOP

Stand with feet shoulder width apart.

Use Med ball or dumbell and hold with both hands.

Start from bottom position and finish with arms at opposite shoulder.

Twist foot to imitate end position of golf swing.

This exercise helps in rotational control.
