  • World No10 Justin Rose has named his favourite nine holes around the world and one of them is in the UAE.

The 2013 US Open champion included in his list the Emirates Golf Club, which is the host of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and was the first all grass championship golf course in the Middle East when it opened in 1988.

In a YouTube clip for travel sponsor British Airways, Rose describes the features that make the nine courses and holes his favourites.

He singles out the 8th hole at Emirates Golf Club as an unsung hero, with its elevated tee giving golfers the opportunity to gain real perspective on the contrast between populous urban life and the barren desert of Dubai.

The other courses and holes across the world, which make the list are:

    • The 4th hole at Lake Nona in Orlando Florida, where he lives
    • The entire course at Legend Golf Safari north of Johannesburg in South Africa
    • The 16th at Port Royal Golf Club in Bermuda
    • The 10th at The Riviera in Los Angeles
    • The 18th at St Andrews, Scotland
    • The 4th hole at Pearl Valley in Franschhoek outside Cape Town, also in South Africa
    • The 15th at the Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia
    • The 12th at Augusta National in Georgia
