  • Bonus: Emirates Palace is offering discounts on overnight stays to participants

Golf enthusiasts in Abu Dhabi now have the opportunity to play on two of the city’s most iconic golf courses, while also enjoying a stay at the Emirates Palace at reduced rates.

The Troon-managed Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club are set to welcome the return of the popular Ramadan Open this weekend and are inviting all keen golfers in the country to sign up and be a part of the grand event.

Members and guests will take on Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s stunning beachfront course on Friday July 25, before facing Abu Dhabi Golf Club’s famous National course, home to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, on Saturday July 26 (14:00 shotgun start).

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, with its Gary Player designed course, is one of the world’s most captivating golfing projects, with spectacular views of the Gulf’s glittering blue waters fringed by pristine white sands.

Last year, 94 players took part in the summer showpiece, and 2014’s instalment is expected to be just as popular with added features including a delicious post-play evening buffet and an official prize giving ceremony on the final evening.

“The Ramadan Open is an annual tournament that’s always been a real highlight in our summer programme in Abu Dhabi,” admitted Abu Dhabi Golf Club’s director of club operations, Scott McCaw.

“By offering golfers the chance to play two very different courses over the weekend, consistency really will be the key to success.”

New sponsor for the 2014 event is the landmark Abu Dhabi hotel, Emirates Palace, who are offering participants the opportunity to enjoy a reduced rate on overnight stays across the competition weekend.

“We are excited to take part in this summer’s Ramadan Open alongside the most prominent golf clubs in Abu Dhabi,” said Holger Schroth, general manager at Emirates Palace.

“With special rates over the Ramadan Open weekend, combine this great sport on two fantastic courses with the most luxurious accommodation in Abu Dhabi for a weekend to remember.

“We look forward to welcoming all golf enthusiasts to the Palace this July.”

Entry fee for the Ramadan Open 2014 includes the 36-hole competition, golf cart, full use of practice facilities and an evening buffet at Abu Dhabi Golf Club following Saturday’s prize presentation.

Participants are also able to benefit from a one-off Ramadan Open special rate at Emirates Palace over the competition weekend.

The event is open to all amateurs provided they have a valid Emirates Golf Federation handicap. The deadline for signing up is Wednesday, July 23.

Entry fees start at Dh150 for joint members and juniors.
