Dubai Golf were the big winners at the fifth annual 59Club Service Excellence Awards which were held recently at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club in the United Kingdom.

Not only was the group adjudged ‘Golf Group of the Year’, but Alan MacKenzie from Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club – one of three clubs in their portfolio – was adjudged ‘Golf Manager of the Year’. And, Dubai Creek and Emirates Golf Club secured Gold Flag status in the members’ clubs category.

The awards are designed to reward top golf venues across all business elements – sales, service, operations, retail and management.

MacKenzie said: “Dubai Golf is still relatively young in terms of golf operators globally, especially when compared to our competition.

To win the award for Golf Group of the Year really is special and it shows how far we have come in just over 25 years.

“Winning the individual award was a lovely surprise and it is a great honour.”

Christopher May, Dubai Golf CEO, added: “We started working with 59Club to further enhance our level of service delivery by benchmarking ourselves against some of the best golf clubs in the world.

“We now actively use the platform for KPI setting, finding and rewarding our stand-out team members and identifying where we are strong and where we need to improve further.”

The benchmarking and training service of 59Club has benefited hundreds of PGA members and golf course operators.

The services include a series of mystery shopper recorded-enquiry calls and live visits, followed up with regular analysis and training to ensure venues identify trends and compare, improve, or maintain, standards.
