  • Start early: Kids as young as three can enrol in the swimming classes.

As the world’s leading health and fitness club chain, it does not surprise us that Fitness First want to build on that success and have this month announced the launch of a new Swim Academy at select locations throughout Dubai.

Set to get underway in January 2014 and geared towards young and old, joining one would be the perfect start to the new year for those either looking to take their stroke to the next level, finally learn to swim altogether, or simply have a good time and keep fit in a refreshing environment.

The Swim Academy’s programmes will cater to adults, teens and children from the age of three onwards with the Junior programme choosing to focus on developing water confidence, water skills and swimming progression through 10 levels in a fun and educational environment.

In addition, the programme offers Baby Splash classes to encourage early swimming skills for children aged three months to three years.

Meanwhile adults of all stroke and skill levels can also enrol in swimming lessons as part of the ‘Learn to Swim, Adult Technique and Adult Fitness Training’ programme at the Academy, while ‘Ladies Only’ classes will also be on offer at the Mirdif City Centre club.

Or would you call yourself an intermediate or advanced swimmer? Then why not enquire about their Competitive Swim Squad, also to be launched in the new year?

Mark Botha, group operations and marketing head of Fitness First Middle East, said: “Fitness First is always looking to enhance its product offering to help the community stay active and healthy with a wide range of fitness activities.

“We see swimming as a great addition to your existing weekly training or the chance to develop a new skill.

“World-class swimming instructors who remain vigilant about the safety of their students and can be trusted to provide the family a fun and productive session at the pool have been enlisted to offer the courses.”

Indeed instructors at the Swim Academy are qualified members of the Swimming Teachers Association (STA) with proven experience in putting even the most unskilled swimmers at ease during instruction, so you and your kids are sure to be in safe hands.

Fitness First will run the academy in six Dubai clubs and registration is already open for Term 1.

To enrol for any of the programmes commencing January 2014, individuals are invited to log on to the Fitness First website to register their contact details. Following this process, enrollees will be contacted for a swimming assessment.

We are sure you will have a great time.
