As the world’s fastest-growing obstacle event series prepares to make its Middle Eastern debut in the grounds surrounding Hamdan Sports Complex, the first six obstacles will set the tone for what is known as ‘Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet’!

Promising the ultimate test of physical strength, stamina, mental grit and teamwork, du Tough Mudder will feature some of the event’s most popular obstacles worldwide, including: ‘Kiss of Mud 2.0’, ‘Funky Monkey’, ‘The Liberator’, ‘Pyramid Scheme’, ‘Mud Mile 2.0’ and ‘Block Ness Monster’.

Here’s a closer look at what you can expect!

Kiss of Mud 2.0 will ensure participants get involved from the start as they crawl their way through a floor of slushy mud under tangled rows of barbed wire.

Funky Monkey tests a fierce combination of upper body strength and ability, starting with everyone’s childhood favourite monkey bars, angled upwards to meet a trapeze at the end. For Mudders that can keep their momentum going, the trapeze will send them swinging into an iron pipe descent, but those who drop will find themselves taking on the ‘swim of shame’.

The Liberator will see participants scale a nearly-vertical 12 foot face with a pair of wooden pegs, which if placed in the wrong hole will send them sliding back down to the bottom to start again.

Pyramid Scheme is all about teamwork and requires some plotting with fellow Mudders. Starting with a strong base, participants will need to scramble, climb and push their way up a slippery incline with the help of their team.

Mud Mile 2.0 is a classic fan favourite that will see du Tough Mudders help each other through a pit of muddy water and over mounds of dirt. Those who don’t start this obstacle with a team can be assured that they will come out as part of one.

The Block Ness Monster is the newest obstacle to descend on du Tough Mudder and takes teamwork to a new level as participants will need to push, pull and roll their way through 60 feet of slick, rotating barriers.

As Mudders take on the challenging, untimed course, Volvic will be on hand as the official water partner of the event to keep participants hydrated throughout.

Volvic will also be providing aspiring Mudders with a chance to win tickets to du Tough Mudder with a competition asking entrants to ‘Show their Force’ by submitting photos of themselves taking on a tough workout on social media using the hashtag #ForceWithinMe.

“We’re putting the UAE participants to the test by bringing the world’s most challenging and popular obstacles to du Tough Mudder; all of which have one major thing in common – teamwork,” said Greg Sproule, Managing Director of IMG Middle East, the organizers of the event.

He added: “The beauty of this event is that participants must rely on helping each other to advance, which in turn encourages them to join teams, make friends and have fun.”

Held in the grounds surrounding Hamdan Sports Complex from December 9-10, ‘du Tough Mudder’, which is organised by IMG in partnership with du and in cooperation with Dubai Sports Council, will include 8km and 16km courses, appealing to fitness enthusiasts and casual athletes alike.

Organisers are encouraging aspiring Mudders to register quickly before entries sell out. There are only a few entries left for the Full and Half Mudder events on Friday 9 December at the early entry price of AED 415 and AED 290. From 12pm this Thursday 6 October, Friday event prices will increase.
