  • Sweat, stretch, smile, and repeat. There’s a new place to work up a good sweat here in the UAE. Located in Jumeirah Lake Towers, Sweatshop Studios lives up to its name.

Sweatshop is a new boutique yoga and fitness studio with efficient, high impact workouts. The studio is heated to promote blood flow, increase sweat, and promote toxin release while you workout.

The owners, Hida and Siham, have taken extra steps to make the studio environmentally friendly, adding sustainable energy fixtures and decorations throughout the studio.

This gives you a calming, earthy feel while you work out. The calmness created inside the studio allows you to fully relax, leave behind the stressors of your work-day, and focus on the class at hand.

Sweatshop Studios’ menu of classes range from those that focus on muscle toning and lengthening, such as yoga and Pilates; to sessions that get your heart pumping, like Zumba.

Siham says the goal of their studio is to create efficient “high impact workouts” great for those with corporate jobs. Sweatshop’s signature class is a form of hot yoga called Moksha.

Originated in Canada, Moksha puts a modern twist on the traditional form of Bikram yoga. Each class involves more variation than the 26 postures found in Bikram yoga; some classes will go through up to 40 different asanas.

This allows you to recruit more muscles in your workout, and possibly see improvements sooner. Also, the heat in the studio is less intense. If yoga is not your style, you can try one of their many other invigorating classes.

Booty Barre work up a sweat in style boutique studio in dubai’s JLT is another popular class at the Sweatshop; it blends ballet, dance, and Pilates to lengthen and tone muscles in the legs.

Pole dance is another fitness class—this one will both increase upper body strength and help to improve your flexibility. They plan to add Acroyoga and flying yoga to the menu soon!

Sweatshop Studios knows fitness is important at a young age so they offer classes for children as well so the whole family can come get fit.

They have a flexible, diverse schedule with classes that run from 07:00 to 21:00. Class lengths are either 60, 75, or 90 minutes so there should be a class you can fit in to your busy schedule.

Multiple elements in the studio reflect green living and a natural environment. Siham wanted to ensure they maintain “Moksha’s sustainable building practices” in designing the studio.

The front desk is made of reclaimed wood, which gives you a soothing, rustic feel when you first walk in. The studio floors are made of cork, and LED lighting is placed intricately throughout the studio.

Siham and Hida used radiant heating panels to keep the heat in the room and energy costs low. These panels heat the body rather than the air and use up less power than hot air technology.Sweatshop Studios is among the first to use this state of the art technology.

Lastly, the studio takes an extra step to conserve the environment—they save trees by emailing all receipts, there’s no printer at the reception desk. What’s more, the price is friendly on your wallet too! Individual classes start at Dh80 per session.

They also offer packages of 5, 10 classes. And for the serious fitness enthusiasts, you can purchase an unlimited monthly class pass.

Whether you goal is to increase flexibility, increase strength, or improve your cardiovascular endurance, there is class for everyone at Sweatshop!

One thing is for certain, when you leave the studio, you’ll definitely be sporting a big smile.
