  • We were excited to see that everyone’s favourite visual discovery site, Pinterest, has just released their predictions for 2015 trends in health and fitness! The site came up with 100 predictions for the year ahead across various categories, based on trending Pins in popular categories and Pins from their most influential Pinners, and here we’ve picked a few of their top predictions in wellness for the New Year.

    Cauliflower as a Superfood

If Pinterest’s predictions are spot-on, the kale superfood trend is finally fizzing out and cauliflower is IN. Because judging by the number of cauliflower recipes pinned by influential foodies, it looks like this crunchy white veg might be edging in. We hope you like it, because you might just start to see cauliflower everything on menus and recipes. Although, we suspect kale will still hold its own!

    At Home Yoga

Based on the popularity of pins such as this which depicts 3 hip opener sequences, which found itself among the top pins in wellness, the site predicts that at-home yoga will be riding a wave of popularity in the year to come! Since we spend most of our day sitting, it only makes sense, then, that this quick video pin with three simple yoga moves to open hips and release tension was popular among the Pinterest crowd. I guess we can look forward to more of the same in 2015!

    The Juicing Craze Continues

Oh no, it’s not done yet! Apparently the juicing trend will keep on keeping on in the New Year and shows no signs of slowing down. In particular, when flu season hits and bugs go around, juicing rides a popularity wave as people start pinning creative ways to keep allergies at bay. I guess that explains why this super simple juice is one of the site’s most popular pins of the year. The dash of cayenne pepper cleans out your sinuses, and the blood orange and lemon give a much-needed boost of vitamin C.

    Stress Fighting Foods

It’s hardly news that most people these days are stressed out to various degrees, so it only makes sense that Pinterest users are quick to pin fast and easy ways to get some zen. This list from Women’s Health includes some favourites like dark chocolate-covered almonds and guacamole and is one of the site’s most popular wellness pins of the year. Expect stress-busting foods to get some more attention in 2015 (hopefully together with some other maintainable lifestyle changes to combat increasing stress levels).

    Home-Grown Food

How about growing your own fresh greens, tomatoes, sprouts, peas, and herbs any time you want? One of the site’s most popular pins showed users how to grow them year round indoors on a windowsill or under grow lights, suggesting a move towards gardening and growing your own food where possible.

    The Natural Movement

From home-made lemon soap to how to clean your entire house using natural DIY products to DIYnatural beauty products, the digital world seems to be seeking out natural solutions, perhaps becoming more aware of the potentially harmful materials in everyday products.

    Quality Sleep Tips

In leading the busy lives most of us do, sleep can seem so elusive. Or at least good quality sleep – the kind after which you wake up refreshed and recharged. When it seems like your brain won’t shut off and counting sheep just isn’t cutting it, try these essential sleep tips from Fitbit – another one of the year’s most popular Pinterest pins – and expect more of the same in 2015 as people chase this essential ingredient for leading a happy, healthy life.
