  • Dubai's version of Muscle Beach comes in this outdoor set up by Warehouse gym and consists of a CrossFit rig and the usual weight training equipment.

Fresh air, beach access, green grass: there’s no better training ground then the outdoors. So while the weather allows, now’s the time to get out of the office, the car, and the gym and experience the benefits of Mother Nature by checking out some of these top outdoor training spots in Dubai.

    Muscle Beach, JBR

As far as training goes, it doesn’t get much better than enjoying a view of the beach while working out, followed by a refreshing swim!

Located at The Beach in JBR (and, literally, on the beach), Dubai’s version of Muscle Beach comes in this outdoor set up by Warehouse gym and consists of a CrossFit rig and the usual weight training equipment. It is open for anyone to use, either to use for their own training or join one of the group classes they will be running, which include CrossFit, Spin and Commando circuit classes.

Entry into Muscle Beach is 60AED, while classes are priced differently. For more info, drop the guys at Warehouse Gym a line here.

The Drop Zone @ Skydive Dubai

A free-to-use outdoor gym in Dubai Marina, located on Al Seyahi Street – around 100 meters into the same road that leads to Skydive Dubai – is an adults’ workout playground set upon a beautiful backdrop of Dubai Marina. Think climbing ropes, boxes, sprint track, monkey bars, and plenty of grass area for you to utilize for whatever workout you can dream up using what you have to work with. Plus, if you have your own workout equipment – like a TRX, for example – there are specific bars you can use as an anchor point so it’s easy to throw them into your workout too.

    Al Barsha Pond Park

Al Barsha’s Pond Park features a soft 1.4km running track that encircles a pond and is marked every 100m, so it’s great for jogs or sprints. There is only one entrance to the park (near Emirates NBD BANK on 316 Street, the main road running from TECOM to Al Quoz through Barsha) and plenty of parking in front of the park entrance. The park is open until 10pm every day and on Saturday evenings you’ll find the RIPE Food and Crafts night market down there as well!

    The Palm Jumeirah

Tucked away on the Palm is the Palm Jumeirah Ittihad Park, featuring a 2.7km running track lined with other exercise tools. The track runs alongside the monorail around the Trump Tower station, and is easily accessible from in front of the Fairmont Hotel, where you will find parking too. There are also playground areas for kids in the park as well as workout stations/equipment positioned along the track, including pull-up bars, so you can break up your run with other exercises along the way too.

    Umm Sequim Park

Close to JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL, Umm Suqeim Park is a peaceful green oasis with plenty of space to fit in a workout. Before or after a workout, it is a great place for some peace and quiet, offering a a little café, play areas for children and a beautiful beach right at its doorstep. It is the perfect place to get away for a few hours in the morning or afternoon.
