  • Final touches: James Franklin saw his side home.

Barbados Tridents upstaged Northern Knights by six wickets in a rain-hit Champions League T20 match in Bangalore last night to grab third spot in the Group B standings.

It was the first win for the Caribbean Premier League champions, who had done well to restrict the Knights to 135-8 in 19 overs.

Set a target of 138 in 19 overs, according to the Duckworth-Lewis method, opener Dilshan Munaweera (20) provided the initial flourish before all-rounder James Franklin (33 not out) sealed it for the winners.

Needing 12 in the last over bowled by Tim Southee, Franklin hit a six and a four to haul Barbados home.

Earlier, opener Anton Devcich (47) was the top scorer for the Knights before rain stopped play for an hour.
