The agreement was made at the 36th meeting of the Board of Governors, held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, headed by PCB chairman Shaharyar.

Having signed on Repucom – a globally trusted company with extensive experience in the sports industry – as consultants in April of this year, the board came to their decision based on Repucom’s findings of a report into the virtues of a T20 league.

“It was decided in principle that PCB will organise the league on its own and will not outsource it to any other organization,” the PCB press release confirmed.

“It was also unanimously decided that the first edition of the league will take place in UAE with an aim of attracting maximum number of foreign players. The Board of Governors discussed the TOR and decided that the league’s Lead Manager should be a leading professional of international repute.”

The Board of Governors further approved recommendations for domestic cricket drawn up by its Cricket Committee.

All members also congratulated PCB officials on successfully organising the recent Zimbabwe tour, the first full-member side to play cricket Pakistan since the Lahore attacks in 2009.

“We are extremely grateful to the government, police and all other security agencies for their cooperation, and this tour was a great message for other teams to tour Pakistan in the future,” said Khan.

As part of a broader plan for the future, the chairman stressed that the PCB’s focus is on improving grassroots cricket, fitness standards, and making domestic cricket more competitive.
