  • Shahzad is building quite the social following.

While the rain fell in Galle at the start of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the players came up with a novel way to keep themselves entertained as Pakistan batsmen Ahmed Shahzad and Asad Shafiq decided to show their acting skills through social media hit app 'Dubsmash'.

Shahzad, known for his love of selfies on Twitter – which brings as much love as it does hate – decided to go one step further by doing a short video from iconic Bollywood movie ‘Sholay’.

The swashbuckling opener decided to take up the role of legendary Gabbar Singh, Asad assuming Thakur.

As the video starts, Shahzad is in perfect ahrmony as he mimes 'Ye haath hum ko dede' (Give me these hands), with Asad holding back laughter as he scream ‘Nahiiii’ (Noooo).

Shahzad again says ‘Ye hath humko dede’ and Asad comes up with a better reply towards the end with a firm ‘Nahiiiii’.

The video was shot just a day before the Test match on Wednesday and Sport360 has been informed that several other of the Pakistan players had a go at making a video but none have emerged as of yet.

Shahzad is building a solid brand in Pakistan and certainly knows how to keep fans engaged in a world so dominated by social media.

His selfies have become so famous that in the recent series with Zimbabwe there were roars from the crowd of ‘Selflie, Selfie’, to which Shahzad duly obliged by taking a phantom photo of himself during the second T20I to massive cheers from supporters.
