  • Don’t miss it: The final installment of the Wadi Adventure Race promises a lot of fun.

The Wadi Adventure Race (WAR) returns for the final time this season where athletes will be pushed to the limits in a gruelling obstacle course.

    – Schools round-up: Unbeatable Uptown, Brighton’s valuable experience
    – Doha College run away with top honours at BSME Games

The previous two races saw hundreds descend on Wadi Adventure Park in Al Ain, and organisers are expecting another huge turn out on Saturday, April 25 for its ninth edition.

Competitors will have to overcome a 10km obstacle course where they will crawl, run, swim, swing and climb their way to the finish line.

“Since the concept started in 2012, the Wadi Adventure Race has grown rapidly,” said Maya Hanna, sales and marketing manager at Wadi Adventure.

“With that success, the series was created and with the growing popularity of one-day assault course themed races of the Tough Guy, Tough Mudder and Spartan genre, the Wadi Adventure Race has definitely established itself as one of the region’s finest.

    Unique: WAR has various challenges.

“By no means will it be easy but we can promise it will be a whole to of fun. The diversity of Wadi Adventure’s obstacles is a challenge itself where weekend warriors and seasoned athletes can go head to head across an unknown and sometimes frankly absurd set of challenges.”

The obstacles of the race will not be given out to any athletes before the event, but Hanna hints that it will be harder and better than ever before.

There are six sections to choose from with categories in Elite, A, B, C, D and E, with each catered for different fitness levels and running abilities.

For instance, Elite is for super fit while category E is for beginners.

While it maybe a difficult race, it is one that anyone aged 16 and above can apply for regardless of their abilities.

“The Wadi Adventure Race isn’t aimed for those who have plenty of experience in sports,” said Hanna.

“It’s open to everyone aged 16 and above, and with different categories available they will be competing against those with the same standards.”

Buckle up: Registration for the popular race closes on Sunday, April 19.

And with it being the last race of the season, Hanna insists it’s not one to be missed.

She said: “There will be a fantastic atmosphere at the Wadi Adventure Race. While it will be a challenging race, there will be plenty of support from family and friends that will keep the athletes going.

"With it being the last race of the season, it’s the perfect way to experience what the Wadi Adventure Race is all about and perhaps they may take part in next season’s event.”

Registration closes at midnight on Sunday. So hurry up and be a part of a great experience.
