  • Goals galore: Several teams made a statement with big opening wins.

Al Zeer, XCAT, Fohood Jumeirah and Fohood Zabeel emerged winners on the opening day of the futsal competition at the 3rd Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Ramadan Sports Tournament.

Defending champions Fohood Zabeel secured a 4-0 win over Forsan Al Ittihad, Al Zeer smashed six past Al Nojoom for a 6-2 win, XCAT got the better of Al Bahri 4-1 and Fohood Jumeirah had a tennis set score of 6-0 against the Al Aseefa Falcons.

Fohood Zabeel were impressive in their opening win. Led by their star player Ricardo Filipe da Silva, known as Ricardinho, the defending champions struggled to break down a resolute Forsan Al Ittihad defence.

But they finally managed when Rafael Lira scored their first goal and Sabry Jamil added the second for a 2-0 lead at half-time.

Lira’s second goal made it 3-0 early in the second half and Ricardinho got his name on the sheet to put the match out of reach for Forsan Al Ittihad.

Morocco’s Kareem Bali was the driving force as XCAT showed poise and purpose in their 4-1 win against Al Bahri.

Bali was impressive with his skill and touch with two goals and team-mates Adil Zouthane and Yousuf Al Dhanhani added one each for XCAT. Mohammad Khay scored Al Bahri’s lone consolation.

Al Zeer started the night’s proceedings with a 6-2 thumping of Al Nojoom. Ali Mohammed Ghuloom and Hussain Tayebibigoli scored two goals each, while Talib Mohammed Alfzari and Jaber Saffar got one each for Al Zeer. Al Nojoom’s goals came from Ibrahim Kamal and Mohammed Allouch.

Fohood Jumeirah’s thrashing of the Al Aseefa Falcons was aided by two goals each from Tariq Aman, Franklin Douglas Cavalante and Morales di Oliveira Faria.

Meanwhile, top favourites Juani Mieres and Sanyo Gutierrez, and Juan Martin Diaz and Maxi Sanchez, will meet in the Padel Tennis final.

Allemandi and Miguel Lamperti 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to set a meeting in the final of the international padel tennis competition.

Dubai Municipality defeated Dubai Ambulance 35-20, while the Hamdan Heritage Centre powered their way past Dubai Police 44-8.
