  • On the eve of the opening round of the 2016 GT Asia Series, Motorsport Asia Limited has revealed that Thailand’s internationally renowned brewing company Singha Corporation will partner with the region’s most successful GT category, continuing Singha’s high profile relationships with international motorsport.

Singha Corporation and motorsport have been indelibly linked in recent years, Singha’s partnerships with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing have provided significant exposure to the instantly recognisable Thai brand, and the successful international operation is looking to continue that trend with the GT Asia Series.

The partnerhip will see a range of activities focussed around the Asian region’s highest profile GT championship, which will now proudly wear the colours of Singha.

“I’m overjoyed that we’ve been able to finalise this arrangement ahead of the start of the 2016 season,” Motorsport Asia Limited CEO David Sonenscher admitted.

“Singha is an icon all over Asia, an easily recognisable brand of quality with a fantastic reputation, something which fits perfectly with the GT Asia Series.

“The relationship goes much deeper than sheer branding though, with Singha’s immense reputation for activation and visibility, added to GT Asia’s recently signed arrangement with FOX Sports Asia, we will be generating significant exposure for the sport and our partners. This is a real milestone for the category.

“Typically of a successful corporation, Voravud Bhirom Bhakdi and his team are committed to the partnership and are invested in growing the category together. They know motorsport, they’re involved in the sport and they understand the market very well. For us this is the kind of relationship we’ve been looking for, and it gives us great momentum heading into the future.”

For over 80 years – Singha, which is a privately owned company – has become a renowned beer and beverage producer, managed by third and fourth generations of the descendants of the founder Phya Bhirom Bhakdi, together with professionals from different fields.

“Over decades, Singha Corporation has been supporting various kinds of sports and motorsports by becoming an official partner both in Thailand and internationally. We are delighted to announce an official partnership with the GT Asia Series for season 2016,” Voravud Bhirombhakdi, Executive Vice President and Director of Boon Rawd Trading Co. Ltd. Explained.

“In Asia, the GT Asia Series has attracted significant attention from drivers and racing teams from around the world, from both factory teams and passionate drivers who want to be a part of the Series.

“Motorsport is constantly developing, and Singha Corporation is passionate about supporting its growth, especially in Asia. As a partner with GT Asia, Singha Corporation will work alongside the Series to take it from Asia, to the world.”

The arrangement – which will begin this weekend with the opening round of the 2016 season in South Korea – will see the Royal Garuda of Singha emblazoned proudly across the windscreens of every entrant in the GT Asia Series.

The Royal Garuda that appears on every bottle of Singha products is a Thai Royal Warrant, the highest honor in Thailand awarded to businesses and organisations. It was granted to Boon Rawd Brewery – producer of Singha beer – on October 25th, 1939, for its exceptional service and commitment to the economic and social development of the Thai Kingdom.

“There’s no question, that thanks to partners like Singha Corporation and FOX Sports Asia that the GT Asia Series has matured to become one of the world’s foremost GT championships,” Sonenscher said. “Over the last three seasons we’ve had significant interest from all the leading GT3 manufacturers in the world and attracted some of the world’s best drivers, something which will continue into 2016, and thanks to our partners, well into the future.

“It’s an exciting time for the category, and it’s amazing to have a partner such as Singha who understands what we’re trying to achieve, and are committed to working alongside us for the future of the sport.”
