  • Thumbs up: Mehairi is unfazed about switching to Karts.

Saeed Al Mehairi will swap his 400hp Porsche for a 10hp kart when the Kartdrome 12 Hours, the first round of the 2014 Endurance Championship driven by Mini, which gets under way at noon on Friday.

Just a week ago, Al Mehairi powered to second place in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East and is now set to take on a new challenge.

When asked how he changes from brute Porsche power to the finesse of the Sodi RX7 karts, Al Mehairi said: “It might seem that it is not easy changing from a Porsche Cup car to a SWS kart, but trust me if you are into racing it doesn’t matter which car you jump into.

“It will take you one or two laps and you adapt to what you you are driving. For me it does not make a big difference,” added the Skydive Dubai Falcon driver.

On Friday, free practice begins at 09:30, followed by qualifying at 10:45 and the race set to be flagged off at 12:00.

Entry to the Kartdrome is free for spectators on the day.
