  • Delighted: A young bowler reels off in celebration.

A superb fielding and batting performance from TMS Amateurs saw them claim a seven wicket win over DESC Diamonds on Friday.

There was nothing amateurish about TMS' performance as they posted the highest total of the day at 7he Sevens in Dubai.

Diamonds acting head coach Mohammed Sait admitted his side failed to shine.

Having said that, his team had received less notice than any other side in tournament after their application was belatedly accepted when DESC Stallions mysteriously withdrew from the league.

TMS were rampant with the bat in hand and posted a sizeable 144-3 from their 20 overs.

The workload was shared between top scorer Macneil Noronha (31) who was ably supported by both Sanjay Jayaprakash (25) and Babesh Mamtani (15*).

Coach Atif Burney was happy with the all round performance.

"We were very good in the field and we batted well too, I'm very happy," he said.

Diamonds' coach Sait said: "The kids were enthusiastic but we have to learn some things, like work on the batting especially and keeping our wickets better.

"We have to work on the bowling too because they scored a lot of extras."

    Diamonds conceded 64 in extras.

In the under-13 competition, Gaurang Agrawal's man of the match performance helped IHS Knights secure a comfortable win over JSSIS Super Kings.

Agrawal's 27 off just 18 balls included one four. He was supported by Vihan Tripathi (19 off 34) as Knights posted 91-2 from their 15 overs.

In a fine, all-round performance, Agrawal also took one wicket for just four runs.

Aaryan Srivastav and Aryan Sharma took the wickets for Kings. They could only muster 64-8 in reply, with Kartik Niar (12) their chief run-maker.

CB Abihnav took two of the Kings' wickets for just 16 runs.

Knights assistant coach Sunil Kumar said: "I'm very happy, my team played very well. Gaurang was excellent and hitting the ball well. He did a nice job."

It's now two wins from two for Knights and coach Kumar wants his team to at least make the finals come the end of the season.

Man of the match Agrawal said: "I felt I did a good job but the team did a brilliant job, batting, bowling and fielding."

Elsewhere, the Deira Daredevils were unable to tame Prithvi Venkat who steered Winchester Cobras to a six wicket win.

Venkat bowled two maiden overs and also took a wicket as Deira were reduced to just 53-9 from their 15 overs.

Venkat was also unbeaten with the bat as he helped guide the Cobras to victory, posting 54-4.

Deira top scored through Mohammed Mahdi (9) while Calvin Charles took 3-9 for Winchester with the ball.
