He was well supported by Arsh Bhasin (20 n.o) who has performed consistently since moving from London three months ago.

DESC's responded by scoring 110/5, falling short of 14 runs.

Top scorers for DESC Diamonds' were Neel Ammanath (23 off 37) and Umar Zahid (16 off 15).

Coach Kyle Dawson of JC Heat said: "We were very lucky. With a few overs to go, I was worried but we hung on in the end.

"A couple of little mistakes might have let our lead slip but overall the performance was great," he said.

DESC Diamonds coach Mohammed Shameem said if the bowling was better in the first innings his team would have won. "We dropped two good catches in the first innings, that could have been the different."

Elsewhere, Mohammad Shahdad smashed 61 off 53 balls to earn Wellington International School a comfortable 55 run win against JSS Blitz.

JSS fielded first but were unable to contain the powerful batting of Shahdad and Saahil Menon (28 off 27). They put on 89 runs in Wellington's total of 138.

The second innings started brightly for JSS Blitz but their opponents restricted them to 83/6. Vaibhav Jaideep scored 30 runs off 40 balls for Blitz.

Wellington coach Rob Weaver said: "We were more relaxed on the field and that helped us play more effectively."

Meanwhile, Gems Modern Academy remain unbeaten in the under-13 category after a 76-un win against Deira Daredevils.

Gems battled first and posted 143/6 after their 15 overs. Ronak Pandli was their top scorer with 46 off 34 while Aman Advani scored a run-a-ball 17.

Diera struggled and were bowled out for 67.

Best for Deira were the elusive Ibrahim Riaz (30 off 29) and bowler Gaurav Singh (2-26).

Coach Shefiq Ahmed pointed to the Gems' match experience as the focal point to their success this season.

"We're participating in a number of different tournaments at the moment and that's building confidence for the players.

"It's the experience of playing so many matches that's the main difference," he said.

In Friday's other fixture, Calvin Charles' three wicket haul earned Winchester Cobras a 26 run triumph over JSS Blitz.

JSS Blitz won the toss and elected to field but provided little resistance as their opponents posted 98/5 in the first innings.

Hassan Murad (28 off 21) and Prithvi Venkatkrishna (20 off 26) set the tone for Winchester's first innings score of 98/6.

Winchester Cobras fielded well in the seconds innings and restricted their opponents to 72/4.

Coach Lisbon P. Matthews believed it was the toughest game his team have played so far.

"It was a tense game in the end. Our players really enjoyed it and JSS proved their a great side.

"There were two sides to our win. Hassan's 30 runs in the opening innings was vital and Calvin's three wickets in the second helped us in the end," said Matthews.

JSS coach Nisha Ali reflected on her sides performance.

"The importance is to keep training hard now and work on our mental strength," she said.
