  • Up for it: Jalp Shah was the star in Sharjah’s last win against Our Own Zenith.

It will be a battle of DPS teams at the ICC Academy on Saturday as Falcons were drawn against Sharjah in the U-15 Sport360 National School League semi-finals.

Completing the semi-final line-up is Dubai’s DIA Wolves, who will take on Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS) in the afternoon encounter.

In the U-13 category, DPS Falcons take on Sharjah’s PAK Hawks, while the winners of that semi-final will meet either Dubai’s GEMS Modern Academy or Abu Dhabi’s Efians Army in the final.

In what was the pick of the tie, both DPS Falcons and Sharjah were impressive in the last-eight after some individual brilliance.

For Dubai’s Falcons, all-rounder Aryan Lakra claimed three wickets as his team overcame JC Heat by six wickets, while Jalp Shah was the hero as his late-order blitz helped DPS Sharjah beat Our Own Zenith by four wickets.

DIA Wolves are in fine form after a comfortable 59-run win against TMS Amateurs, while ADIS will be in confident mood after stunning 94-run victory over PAK Eagles.

Based on the last-eight performances, the U-13 matches look set to be thrilling encounters.

With the tournament backed by the Emirates Cricket Board, its chief executive David East is delighted by the impact it’s had in the country.

“This is what all these junior tournaments are about because it gives them a path way through to the national team,” he said.

East said the players should emb-race the opportunity in the semi-finals. “Congratulations to the teams who have reached this stage of the tournament.

“Obviously it’s now getting to a crucial stage and we hope that the boys will all have enjoyed their experience,” he said.
