  • [l-r]: Kelly, Keegan, Eriksen.

One of the finest footballers England has ever produced, Keegan is one of only six from the UK and Ireland to have won the European Footballer of the Year accolade.

He is the only one of that group to have won it twice, claiming back-to-back titles in 1978 and 1979 while playing for German giants, Hamburg.

Keegan enjoyed a glittering career, winning the Bundesliga title in 1978-79, while he also won three First Division titles with Liverpool during the Merseysiders’ heyday, also winning one FA Cup in 1974, two UEFA Cups and the European Cup in 1977.

He gained 63 England caps, scoring 21 times, and played for Southampton and Newcastle, also going on to manage the Magpies on two occasions, guiding them into the Premier League in 1992. He also went on to manage England and Manchester City.

1960: Jim Kelly, former American football quarterback who played in four Super Bowls for the Buffalo Bills (56).

1962: Philippe Sella, former French rugby player who won 111 caps for Les Bleus. Played for Agen and Saracens (54).

1977: Cadel Evans, Australian who won the Tour de France in 2011. Only one of two non-Europeans to do so (39).

1992: Christian Eriksen, Danish footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur (24).
