Al Joker claimed the futsal title in the Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Ramadan tournament after defeating Al Habtoor 3-1 in a thrilling final.
With Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos in attendance, Spain’s Miguel Sayago Marti stole the show by scoring a brace, while his teammate Edelson Robson Dos Santos was also on the scoresheet.
After playing two games in the past two days, it was no surprise that both teams looked tired. But it was Joker who looked sharper as they threatened on the counter-attacks.
Dos Santos opened the proceedings with a well-taken goal for Joker early in the first half but Habtoor found their equaliser through Leonardo Mendonca Da Rocha.
Both sides were evenly balanced but in the 19th minute, Marti gave Joker the advantage when he volleyed home from an acute angle shortly before half-time.
After the break, Joker continued to press forward and they were finally rewarded for their persistence when Marti tapped home after being put through by Marcenio Ribeiro Da Silva.
Meanwhile, YLS-1 clinched third place after a 7-3 thrashing over Fohood Jumeirah.
Gelson Saiotti Junior was in fine form, scoring a hat-trick to top the goals tally charts with 19 strikes.

When the USA men’s basketball team was permitted to be made up entirely of active NBA players for the 1992 Olympics, the game ventured into uncharted territory. Could a star studded line-up of mega stars work cohesively in a national team?
It was a valid question as the team had huge names such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, among many others.
But if fans had any doubts over the team’s ability to perform as a unit, they were cleared on this day back in 1992 when Team USA crushed Cuba 136-57 at the Tournament of the Americas. Cuban coach Miguel Calderon simply concluded: “You can’t cover the sun with your fingers.”
