It’s hard to argue that Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t fully deserve his latest triumph, given he has won both the Champions League and European Championships in 2016.
And Ronaldo’s success continued his and Lionel Messi’s domination of world football’s greatest individual prize.
Indeed, Brazilian Kaka was the last winner outside of these two stars, in 2007.
Did Ronaldo deserve to win in your eyes?

Although it’s hard to imagine Ronaldo could ever be the one upstaged, his triumph was actually overshadowed by his son, Cristiano Jr, who celebrated dad’s accolade in style…with a dab.
Congratulations to @Cristiano for winning the #ballondor2016! 👏🎊

What a year it’s also been for Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, who finished seventh and eighth…
It's 7th for Mahrez & 8th for Vardy in the #ballondor2016

They finish ahead of the likes of Zlatan, Pogba & Modrichttps://t.co/FTxWuAHCHb pic.twitter.com/FL9dlOxQ0Y
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, however, found his 16th place behind Vardy somewhat laughable….
