Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he is as ambitious as ever after joining Juventus from Real Madrid.

The 33-year-old Portugal skipper was unveiled as the Italian club’s £99.2million signing on Monday evening after completing a medical earlier in the day.

Ronaldo, who has signed a four-year deal, was greeted by ecstatic fans on “CR7 Day” in Turin, and he was quick to assure them that his hunger for success remains undimmed.

He told a press conference: “I’m looking forward to playing. I’m very motivated, concentrated and focused on that.

“I am very ambitious and I like challenges. I don’t like to stay in my comfort zone, I like to seize new challenges.

“After the experiences in Manchester and in Madrid, I’d like to make my mark on the history of Juventus.”

FOOTBALL

The World Cup-winning French team returned home to a heroes welcome last night as thousands packed the Champs Elysees for their victory parade ahead of the presidential reception.

Elsewhere, Maurizio Sarri has vowed to bring enjoyment back for Chelsea after being appointed Antonio Conte’s successor as head coach.

The former Napoli coach hopes to win trophies with the Blues, but acknowledges the calibre of opposing managers in the Premier League makes that a challenge.

CRICKET

After an action-packed two ODIs so far, all eyes will be on the decider when England and India clash at Headingley today (14:30 start).

The visitors took the upper hand in the three-match series with a scintillating eight-wicket win in the opening ODI at Trent Bridge before England came roaring back with a 86-victory at Lord’s. .

All eyes were fixed on the Luzhniki Stadium for a showpiece finale that few could have predicted when this action-packed summer got under way in Russia.

The clash brought goals, blunders and no little controversy as France eventually ran out 4-2 victors in Moscow.

West Indies’ 2-0 series triumph over Bangladesh and Sri Lanka’s 278-run win over South Africa at Galle has seen some major movements in the ICC Test rankings.

The Caribbean side blew away Bangladesh in both Tests have now traded places in the latest ICC Test team rankings released on Sunday. West Indies are now in the eighth spot while Bangladesh have dropped down to ninth.

India continue to remain perched at the top of the table with 125 rating points, 13 ahead of South Africa who remain in second despite their heavy loss.

Joe Root’s 113 proved enough for England to see off India by 86 runs at Lord’s on Saturday and retain their status as the world’s top-ranked one-day international outfit.

Root equalled Marcus Trescothick’s England record of 12 ODI centuries as the hosts prevailed in a curious encounter, levelling their three-match series at 1-1.

The victor of Tuesday’s third and final clash at Headingley will now take the spoils of this series – but even if India win in Leeds, England will retain their world number one spot.
