Dubai’s 44 games will be held at GEMS Sports Academy in Silicon Oasis, Abu Dhabi’s 28 contests will be at New York University and Sharjah’s 22 will be at Victoria International School Sharjah.

GEMS Sports Academy director James Tucker said: “It’s a recruitment showcase for basketball. It’s going to be a GEMS Sports Academy event and we’re using it to identify basketball talent in the hope we can attract kids to GEMS Sports Academy for development. Our coach, Jawann Oldham, is an ex-NBA player, he’s going to be with us looking for talent. It’s a really good showcase for Dubai’s sporting talent and there aren’t too many grassroots competitions. It’s a really good stage for homegrown talent. If you link it to education, it really is a good message where, particularly in a sports academy, you can combine talented athletes with talented academic.”

Final registrations close on Wednesday, March 25, with a few team spots still available in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Interested students or parents should contact their school or email the school’s details to [email protected] or call 052 244 3906
