  • It was a difficult week for Kevin Pietersen (l) but many athletes were celebrating over the past 7 days.

Sport360 pick out the highlights from the sporting Twittersphere with the sporting world taking to the platform to celebrate Mother’s Day and the fallout from Kevin Pietersen’s latest England exile taking centre stage.

It was Mother’s Day in several countries around the world earlier this week and our timelines were flooded by sweet tributes from sports stars to their mothers and wives.

Here are some of our favourites.

Pique shows off impressive shirt collection

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique was doing some spring cleaning this week and ended up sharing some star-studded momentos from his career to date.

    Anderson digs deep for fan

An over excited Ipswich fan celebrated Paul Anderson’s playoff semi-final equaliser against rivals Norwich by punching a hole in his roof. Anderson then promised to pay for the damage. Don’t you just love Twitter sometimes?

    Ridiculing #StraussLogic

Andrew Strauss’ decision to (again) close the door on Kevin Pietersen’s England career saw #StraussLogic trend heavily as users of the platform ironically lambasted the former England captain.
